Offshoring

Offshoring

Offshoring 2.0—the SQS platform with six components for success

In implementing the offshore 2.0 platform, SQS is utilising the offshore outsourcing experience gained in the IT industry. Our offshore service package offers solutions for everyone who wants to outsource their test tasks either in full or in part, and who wants to keep up with the latest state of the art.

Our services

Our experienced SQS offshore teams in Durban, South Africa, undertake all the tasks of software testing:

  • Verification of technical concepts

SQS uses systematic analyses to detect at an early stage where a system has inconsistencies, omissions or contradictions and documents them accordingly. This considerably enhances the quality of the technical concepts and reduces the workload for the subsequent development process.

  • Functional tests

SQS prepares functional tests and executes them. This involves using systematic approaches, such as test specification according to equivalence class analysis. State-of-the-art tools ensure that the test specifications are transparent, stand up to audit and are maintainable. Testing is actually performed by way of remote access to the customer’s particular systems. Web-based tools provide the customer with all the up-to-date information about the status of the test activities and any identified deviations, either in real time or at periodic intervals.

  • Test automation

Especially when large, critical software systems are involved, which are also repeatedly modified, it is worth using a systematic and automated test, as this reduces maintenance costs considerably. SQS takes care of automation of the software tests and maintenance of the tests.

Benefits to you

  • Adaptive methods

We offer you a tailored approach that is geared to the actual risk, and do away with the typically lengthy, sequential processes and their numerous bottlenecks. This is why SQS consultants start with a readiness check: What can and should be outsourced? What is needed in order to make certain work packages suitable for offshoring? It is only when these questions have been clarified and solved that SQS relocates tasks in defined sequences for external provision, and processes these in parallel wherever possible. The result is efficient and effective processes.

  • Integrated onsite and offshore teams

Offshore needs onsite. Not everything can be outsourced to an overseas location. SQS therefore offers to deploy teams at both ends who are networked with each other and are ready to go within a very short space of time. If you want to launch an offshore project, with SQS it can get going straight away, not after waiting for a number of weeks.

  • Cultural proximity

Understanding and communication call for more than knowledge of the language. For that reason, the offshore teams that SQS makes available at its South African branch are culturally close to their European customers, thus considerably reducing any difficulties with mutual understanding. As well as that, German-speaking experts are also on hand in South Africa for customers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

  • Transparency with dashboards

The SQS quality dashboard ensures that all participants at the project level always see the same, up-to-date state of affairs: How many test cases have been completed? How many test have been performed so far? Companies can make additional use of this information to measure their productivity, project progress, quality and risk.

  • Payment by performance

SQS can adjust the payment for its offshore services in a project over the medium term – and no longer invoices according to the hours and days worked but on the basis of the quality achieved. The “pay-for-quality” model used for this is based on what are called quality points or test points, operating as an innovative yet already field-proven currency for test services.

  • Certified testers

All test experts from SQS are certified in accordance with the globally widespread industry standards established by the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB®). This training secures a high level of test competence, which furthermore is based on methods and terms that are in wide-ranging use across the globe and consequently expedite and improve collaboration between testers within teams and from one team to another.
